Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a 22-year-old youth from Ramban district, who had been missing for nearly 20 days after fleeing an assault by cow vigilantes, has been found dead, sending a wave of grief and outrage among locals.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials said the body of Tanveer Ahmad Chopan, son of Abdul Salam Chopan of Mundkhal Pogal, was recovered from Nallah Bishlari near Kraalna Digdool in Ramban district on Saturday. The youth had gone missing on April 12 near Makarkoot along the Jammu-Srinagar highway while returning from Jammu to his native village.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Tanveer was intercepted and assaulted by cow vigilantes. In an attempt to escape, he jumped into a nearby stream and remained untraceable despite search efforts for the past several days.<\/p>\n
An official said the decomposed body was retrieved by rescue teams and shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.<\/p>\n
The accused were identified as Surjeet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Digvijay Singh and Keval Singh.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s family has held the attackers responsible for Tanveer\u2019s death, saying the assault and subsequent chase forced him into the stream. They have demanded an impartial investigation and strict punishment for all those involved.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, scenes from Tanveer\u2019s funeral deeply moved people across the territory as his grieving mother was seen helping shoulder her son\u2019s coffin, an image widely described as reflecting the courage, resilience and sacrifices of Kashmiri women in the face of continued tragedies and violence.<\/p>\n
