Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party core committee has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health of its illegally detained president Shabbir Ahmad Shah, saying authorities\u2019 delaying tactics to prolong his detention amount to playing with his life.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting was attended by local leadership and diaspora representatives from Islamabad, the UK, Europe, Saudi Arabia and the US via video link.<\/p>\n

The committee condemned gross violations of political and human rights, including selective targeting of educational and religious institutions, killing of civilians, and misuse of draconian laws to silence political voices. It demanded the immediate release of Shah and all Kashmiri prisoners, and restoration of fundamental rights curtailed since 2019.<\/p>\n

Paying rich tributes to late Secretary General Prof Muhammad Abdullah Tari, the committee unanimously elected Dr Ghulam Rasool as the new Secretary General.<\/p>\n

Reaffirming Kashmir as a UN-recognized disputed territory, the DFP called for a peaceful resolution through dialogue involving all stakeholders, warning that force and authoritarian policies would only fuel instability.
