Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-led Indian regime\u2019s tall claims of development and progress have been exposed as contractors associated with the water supply programme called Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) staged a protest in Srinagar over non-payment of their long-pending dues.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large number of contractors gathered at the Chief Office of the Jal Shakti Department under the banner of the Contractors Coordination Committee, demanding the immediate release of payments for works already completed under the centrally sponsored scheme. The protesters said that despite executing projects aimed at improving water supply infrastructure, the authorities have failed to clear their dues for months, pushing them into severe financial distress.<\/p>\n
The aggrieved contractors stated that the delay in payments has not only disrupted their professional commitments but also affected their personal lives. They said many are struggling to repay bank loans, pay workers\u2019 wages, and meet basic household expenses, including children\u2019s education costs. The situation, they added, contradicts New Delhi\u2019s repeated assertions of rapid development and efficient governance in the territory.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the Contractors Coordination Committee urged the authorities to take immediate notice of their grievances and ensure the release of funds without further delay. He warned that continued neglect could stall ongoing projects and discourage participation in future development initiatives.<\/p>\n
