New Delhi: Days after publicly identifying herself as one of six victims in a sexual harassment case against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been served a \u201cwhereabouts failure\u201d notice by the International Testing Agency (ITA) for missing an out-of-competition doping test.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ITA in a letter dated May 5 said its doping control officer could not locate Phogat during the designated testing window on December 18, 2025. The notice marks her first \u201cwhereabouts failure\u201d and will not bar her from the 2026 Senior Open Ranking Tournament set for May 10 to 12 in Nandini Nagar, Gonda.<\/p>\n
Phogat, an elected member of the Legislative Assembly, had replied that she was in Chandigarh for House proceedings and had travelled from Bengaluru to attend the winter session. The ITA, however, ruled that she failed to update her location in the ADAMS system in time and \u201cwas unable to establish that no negligent behaviour on your part caused or contributed to your failure.\u201d<\/p>\n
The notice comes days after Phogat went public on social media, stating \u201cI am one of the 6 victims\u201d who had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. She also raised concerns about the neutrality of referees at the Gonda tournament venue, triggering a fresh row. Athletes in the registered testing pool must routinely update their whereabouts for the next three months.
