Chandigarh: A series of blasts targeting central government installations and forces in Indian Punjab has raised alarm among Indian security agencies, which describe the attacks as a deliberate escalation in militant activity in the region.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, observers say that armed groups have shifted their focus from Punjab police establishments to high-profile targets, with at least three explosions reported within nine days involving a Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters, an army camp, and a key railway freight corridor.<\/p>\n
The latest incident occurred in Jalandhar, where an explosion outside the BSF headquarters set a scooter ablaze in a crowded area. No major casualties were reported. Hours later, another low-intensity blast took place near an Army camp in the Khasa area of Amritsar, close to BSF installations and the Attari-Wagah border crossing. A Khalistani group reportedly claimed responsibility for the attacks.<\/p>\n
Earlier, an explosion targeted a railway track on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, in what authorities suspect was an attempt to disrupt supply chains and economic activity.<\/p>\n
The incidents follow a grenade attack on the Punjab headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chandigarh on April 1. The blast damaged several vehicles parked outside the office, though no casualties were reported.<\/p>\n
Security analysts say the attacks indicate a widening pattern of targets, extending beyond local police stations to include central forces, military facilities, political offices, and strategic infrastructure despite heightened security measures in the region.<\/p>\n
