Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have attached immovable properties worth more than Rs 3.5 crore in Srinagar under the so-called anti-drug campaign. The Modi regime has named it \u201cNasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the properties belonged to three persons booked in multiple cases under the draconian laws.<\/p>\n
Police attached property worth nearly Rs 80 lakh belonging to Shahid Mushtaq of Barthana, Qamarwari, claiming without any evidence that the assets had been acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.<\/p>\n
In another operation, Police Station Nowgam attached assets belonging to Mehrajuddin, including 18 marlas of land, a single-storey house and a cowshed at Wagoora, BK Pora, valued at around Rs 1.5 crore.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Police Station Saddar Srinagar attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore belonging to Tawqeer Ahmad Mir of Rawathpora, Baghat Barzulla.<\/p>\n
The action was carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate and police officials.<\/p>\n
Police claimed all the attached properties had been procured through the drug trade and said the crackdown would continue across the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
Political observers and analysts in the territory say the anti-drug campaign is increasingly being used as a pretext to deprive Kashmiris of their homes and properties in a bid to weaken them economically and socially. They maintain that while drug abuse is a serious issue, attachment and demolition of residential properties amount to collective punishment affecting entire families, including women and children.<\/p>\n
They said such coercive measures have created fear and insecurity among the people, who view the actions as part of broader policies aimed at economically crippling Kashmiris and tightening control over the occupied territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
