Srinagar: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that the BJP is pursuing \u201cblackmail politics\u201d over the issue of statehood and obstructing the functioning of the elected government in the territory.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar that the delay in cabinet expansion was linked to the denial of statehood and not due to any fear within the ruling National Conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cCabinet expansion has stopped because we have not been given the status of a state,\u201d he said. He alleged that the Leader of Opposition\u2019s statements prove that \u201cuntil BJP gets a government here, they will not let us work properly and they will not make Jammu and Kashmir a state.\u201d \u201cPeople of Jammu and Kashmir are being threatened in the name of statehood,\u201d Abdullah said, adding that the BJP was indulging in blackmail politics. He also said that the delimitation exercise in IIOJK was carried out \u201conly to benefit the BJP and its friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
