Gurugram: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has said that the ruling BJP is weakening democratic institutions and the electoral process through misuse of state machinery and constitutional bodies.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a \u201cSadbhav Yatra\u201d rally in Gurugram, Gandhi said that recent elections in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Assam raised serious concerns, claiming the BJP won \u201cthrough misuse of institutions and state machinery.\u201d<\/p>\n
He termed the Bengal poll a \u201chistoric heist,\u201d alleging voter list manipulation and institutional control as part of the BJP\u2019s electoral strategy. Gandhi said the Election Commission, sections of the bureaucracy and investigative agencies were under pressure from the Centre, and elections were now fought through \u201ccontrol over institutions.\u201d He further said that public resources were being concentrated in the hands of a few corporate groups, and criticized the Indo-US trade agreement for harming farmers, small businesses and domestic manufacturing. Unemployment, he said, remained a pressing challenge as small and medium enterprises weakened under current policies.<\/p>\n
Invoking the \u201cnafrat ke bazar mein mohabbat ki dukan\u201d slogan, Gandhi said the Congress stood for harmony against the politics of hatred. \u201cNo other political party will be able to stand firmly against the BJP; ultimately only the Congress will defeat it,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
