New Delhi: The Association for Protection of Civil Rights has documented 34 cases of violence against Muslims in West Bengal between May 4 and May 7, 2026, following the BJP\u2019s electoral victory.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the APCR report cites two fatalities, including a Muslim man killed while protecting a mosque in Gosanimari, Cooch Behar. Cooch Behar and North 24 Parganas reported seven incidents each, while South 24 Parganas and Kolkata saw five each.<\/p>\n

At least 54 properties were attacked, affecting around 50 Muslims. Mosques were assaulted, Muslim-owned hotels in Barasat demolished, homes vandalised in Nandina and Abutra villages, and meat shops and cattle markets targeted. The report also noted \u201cbulldozer processions\u201d and attempts to rename Muslim-associated roads. APCR said the findings, compiled through local sources, point to a broader climate of hostility rather than isolated incidents.
