New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has revived his controversial stand on \u201cSanatana Dharma\u201d during his maiden speech in the Assembly, saying the ideology \u201cwhich divides people\u201d should be abolished.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the DMK leader reiterated the position while attacking attempts to dilute Tamil identity and traditions. He also warned against sidelining \u201cTamil Thai Vazhthu\u201d, the Tamil invocation song, during official functions.<\/p>\n

Udhayanidhi\u2019s 2023 remarks on Sanatana Dharma had triggered an India-wide political storm and multiple legal complaints from Hindu organisations. The Vishva Hindu Parishad demanded an unconditional apology from Udhayanidhi, urged the Speaker to expel him from the House and remove his statement from proceedings, and accused the INDIA bloc and Tamil Nadu government of silence over the remarks.<\/p>\n
