{"id":200439,"date":"2026-05-13T19:32:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T14:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/?p=200439"},"modified":"2026-05-13T19:46:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T14:46:17","slug":"arrest-of-youth-triggers-protest-in-srinagars-shalimar-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/2026\/05\/13\/arrest-of-youth-triggers-protest-in-srinagars-shalimar-area.html","title":{"rendered":"Arrest of youth triggers protest in Srinagar\u2019s Shalimar area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/assests\/2026\/02\/protest-1.jpg\" \/>Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), people staged a protest in the Shalimar area of Srinagar against the arrest of a youth by Indian forces.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth, identified as Arbaz Ali Butt, was arrested by troops during a raid on his home in the area the previous day on the grounds that he had expressed grief and participated in a protest following the martyrdom of Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on February 28.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters termed the arrest of Arbaz Ali Butt unjust and arbitrary, demanding his immediate release and calling for respect for public sentiments.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, senior APHC leader and President of Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed serious concern over the arrest of the youth.
