\"\"Bhopal: Hundreds of members of Muslim community in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, took to the streets to protest the brutal assault and public humiliation of a Muslim youth, Arif Khan, by a group of Hindutva men at a hotel few days ago.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred on Sunday at a hotel in Gautam Nagar under Govindpura police station limits in Bhopal. A group of Hindutva extremists stormed a hotel where Arif KHan was meeting a woman and turned violent after accusing him of being with a woman from another community. The attackers slapped and punched Arif inside the hotel before dragging him outside and parading him on the road while brutally assaulting him after stripping him half-naked. In an act of extreme humiliation, they smeared his face with cow dung and ink and forced him to chant \u201cJai Shri Ram.\u201d The woman later told the police that she had willingly come to meet Arif and had faced no coercion, sexual misconduct, or forced religious conversion. She also declined to file any complaint against him.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators, led by Bhopal City Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadvi, demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers and strong action against police personnel who were present at the scene but failed to intervene. Protesters warned that if the culprits were not arrested within 24 hours, they would call for a city-wide shutdown.<\/p>\n

The protest began at the Kaziyat premises, where community members gathered to condemn the incident. They later marched to the Police Control Room, raising slogans against the attack, which they described as an assault not only on an individual but also on communal harmony and religious sentiments.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, Qazi Nadvi said that the use of offensive language and the inaction by police had hurt religious sentiments and created an atmosphere of fear in the city. \u201cPolice personnel were present at the spot yet they abetted the perpetrators,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Community leaders also submitted a memorandum to Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, seeking swift arrests and departmental action against negligent officers.<\/p>\n

Congress legislators Arif Masood and Atif Aqueel, along with AIMIM leader Mohsin Ali, participated in the demonstration, extending support to the community\u2019s demands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
