Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders and organizations have rejected Indian Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi\u2019s remarks against Pakistan and said New Delhi should resolve the Kashmir dispute through dialogue instead of issuing threats.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, reacting to Gen Dwivedi\u2019s statement that Pakistan must \u201cdecide whether they want to be part of geography or history or not,\u201d Hurriyat leaders said such rhetoric cannot change ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir. They said the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir is internationally recognized and can only be resolved through meaningful dialogue between India, Pakistan and the genuine leadership of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThreats and military posturing will not bring peace to the region. The only way forward is to address the root cause of the conflict through talks,\u201d a Hurriyat leader said.<\/p>\n
The leaders pointed out that the people of Kashmir have been demanding their right to self-determination for decades, and suppressing the issue through force or aggressive statements will only prolong instability in South Asia.<\/p>\n
They urged India to shun the policy of coercion and engage with Pakistan to find a peaceful resolution in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiris.<\/p>\n
