{"id":200885,"date":"2026-05-18T09:46:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T04:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/?p=200885"},"modified":"2026-05-18T09:46:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T04:46:13","slug":"dfp-urges-pakistan-to-raise-kashmir-rights-violations-at-oic-un-forums","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/2026\/05\/18\/dfp-urges-pakistan-to-raise-kashmir-rights-violations-at-oic-un-forums.html","title":{"rendered":"DFP urges Pakistan to raise Kashmir rights violations at OIC, UN forums"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-200886\" src=\"https:\/\/kmsnews.org\/kms\/assests\/2026\/05\/mehmood-saghar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"286\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Islamabad,: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party acting president Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has urged the Government of Pakistan to use its growing diplomatic influence to safeguard the fundamental rights and religious freedoms of Kashmiris amid an intensifying crackdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kashmir Media Service, in separate letters to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, Saghar felicitated Pakistan\u2019s leadership on the first anniversary of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, calling it a historic battle that \u201ccompelled an enemy to retreat in utter humiliation\u201d and earned Pakistan global recognition as an \u201cinvincible, mature and responsible nuclear power.\u201d He said the Marka-e-Haq reflected Pakistan\u2019s unwavering resolve to defend its ideological and geographical frontiers and sent a clear message that the country \u201ccould neither be coerced nor intimidated.\u201d Saghar alleged that India had used the Pahalgam incident as a pretext to launch attacks on Pakistan and intensify repression in Kashmir. He said fundamental rights, including freedom of speech, peaceful protest and assembly, continue to be severely curtailed, while Kashmiri leaders and women activists remain under prolonged detention under draconian laws.<\/p>\n<p>Saghar said New Delhi is pursuing demographic engineering and systematically suppressing the political and religious rights of Kashmiris to erase their identity. \u201cThe relentless attempts to erase the political, cultural, and religious identity of the Kashmiris have further aggravated the situation,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Saghar said the closure of religious and educational institutions was eroding Kashmiris\u2019 ability to practice their faith and preserve their heritage.
