Among the structures slated for demolition are the Mirza Karimullah Beg Mosque, Marble Wali Masjid, Ali Raza Khan Mosque, Nisaran Mosque, Rangeele Shah Mosque and Langde Hafiz Mosque, all located near Chowk police station.

The 226-year-old Karimullah Beg Mosque holds deep historical and religious significance for the local community. Residents and caretakers have condemned the move as a direct attack on Muslim religious places under the pretext of development. Babu Jaan, muezzin of the Karimullah Beg Mosque, said the community would cooperate only if legal procedures are followed, warning that any unconstitutional action would be strongly opposed.

Three bulldozers and over 100 laborers have been deployed daily to accelerate the demolition. Local organizations have denounced the action as another instance of targeting Muslim heritage and displacing a minority population under the banner of urban development. They warn that the destruction of homes, shops, and centuries-old mosques threatens both the identity and survival of Dalmandi’s Muslim community. Tension remains high in the area as demolition work continues in the crowded market lanes.

Varanasi, : In a sweeping demolition campaign in Varanasi’s Muslim-majority Dalmandi locality in Uttar Pradesh, Indian authorities have marked six mosques, including a 226-year-old shrine, for removal under the guise of a road widening project, sparking outrage among residents and rights groups.
