Islamabad: A prayer and condolence meeting was held at the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference -AJK (APHC-AJK) in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi to pay tribute to the former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, prominent religious leader and sincere advocate of the Kashmir freedom movement, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan, on his demise.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the participants of the meeting paid glowing tributes to the late leader for his religious, intellectual, social, moral and national services.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said Sheikh Ghulam Hassan was a visionary, simple and dignified personality who dedicated his entire life to Islam, moral values, national awareness and the Kashmir freedom movement. He said the deceased always raised his voice for truth and justice with patience, steadfastness and dignity despite difficult circumstances and political pressure.<\/p>\n
He said Sheikh Ghulam Hassan was a remarkable combination of knowledge, wisdom, moderation and sincerity, adding that his role in the religious and moral training of youth was also significant. Safi said the late leader strongly believed in the freedom movement and detested every form of subjugation. He added that due to his spirit of freedom, he had started writing \u201cMuhammad Hassan\u201d instead of \u201cGhulam\u201d in his name.<\/p>\n
The APHC convener said the death of Sheikh Ghulam Hassan was a great loss for Kashmir as the territory had been deprived of a wise, sincere and influential leader whose absence would be felt for a long time. On the occasion, he also mentioned the martyrdom of the deceased\u2019s son, who sacrificed his life for the Kashmir freedom movement.<\/p>\n
The meeting was attended by Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Advocate Parvez Ahmad, Shamim Shawl, Dawood Khan, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Nisar Mirza, Mian Muzaffar, Syed Gulshan, Sheikh Abdul Majeed, Syed Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Zahid Mujtaba, Abdul Majeed Mir, Muhammad Shafi Dar and APHC-AJK Information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, among others.<\/p>\n
Special prayers were offered at the end of the meeting for the departed soul, elevation of his ranks in the hereafter and for the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
