Jammu : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-backed administration\u2019s decision to ban inter-district transportation of bovine animals ahead of Eidul Azha has triggered concern among Muslims, who view the move as interference in their religious affairs and an attempt to create difficulties during the upcoming religious occasion.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the District Magistrate of Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, has imposed a two-month ban on the transportation of bovine animals, including cows, buffaloes, oxen, bulls and calves, from Jammu district to other districts without prior official permission.<\/p>\n
The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and violations may invite punitive action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.<\/p>\n
The restriction comes at a time when preparations for Eidul Azha are beginning across the territory, prompting concerns among traders, transporters and the Muslim community about the impact on religious practices linked to the festival.<\/p>\n
Residents said such measures create unnecessary hurdles for people associated with livestock trade and sacrificial arrangements during Eidul Azha.<\/p>\n
Political observers and civil society members said the order reflects a growing pattern of administrative interference in Muslim religious matters under the BJP-led dispensation.
