Jammu : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra said India has failed to restore statehood to territory stating that people were suffering under a \u201cdual control system\u201d after the Assembly elections.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a workers\u2019 convention in Jammu, Karra said people were caught between two power centres, which he called a negation of their mandate. He said that districts in the Jammu region had been adversely affected since the abrogation of special status and downgrading of the erstwhile state into a Union Territory, claiming local youth were deprived of jobs and resources were being exploited.<\/p>\n

Karra said the Congress was campaigning for statehood through \u201cHamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq\u201d and stressed strengthening booth-level party structures.
