According to Kashmir Media Service, Surinder Kumar Choudhary speaking to reporters during his visit to Handwara to condole the demise of the father of Baramulla MP Er Rashid said the recent demolition drive in Jammu would not have happened if Jammu and Kashmir had retained full statehood.Kashmir cultural tours<\/p>\n

Questioning the demolition of houses, he said the structures had existed for years and were not built overnight. \u201cIf these constructions were illegal, where were the departments concerned all these years?\u201d he asked, calling the demolitions unfortunate.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Chief Minister said the elected government does not have authority over senior officers and claimed that bureaucrats are making crucial administrative decisions.<\/p>\n

He reiterated the demand for restoration of statehood, saying the Indian government had promised to restore it after the Assembly elections and should now fulfill that commitment.<\/p>\n

Choudhary added that restoration of statehood and special status would protect the rights of the people and help avoid such actions in future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
