Mumbai : Nitesh Rane, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and minister in Maharashtra, has once again made controversial remarks targeting the Muslim community.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Nitesh Rane in his latest speech referred to Muslims as \u201cgreen snakes\u201d and urged Hindus to take a harder line, rejecting the idea of religious coexistence.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a gathering in Mumbai, he openly dismissed communal harmony and equal respect for all religions \u2014 principles enshrined in India\u2019s constitutional secular framework.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe interests of Hindus come first and foremost. There is no brotherhood and no equal respect for all religions,\u201d he said. \u201cWhoever believes in this should go to Pakistan. There is no need to live here,\u201d he added<\/p>\n
Rane made the remarks during a Sambhaji Jayanti event organised by Hindutva groups. The speech has sparked outrage, with analysts and rights groups saying such rhetoric further alienates minorities and undermines the country\u2019s secular and inclusive fabric.<\/p>\n
Since Narendra Modi assumed power at the Centre in 2014, Hindutva leaders have frequently framed Muslims as outsiders or internal threats, even though the community comprises more than 200 million people in India.<\/p>\n
In another contentious remark, Rane said, \u201cThis is Mahadev\u2019s land. Only \u2018I Love Mahadev\u2019 will continue, not \u2018I Love Muhammad\u2019,\u201d appearing to reference past disputes over religious slogans and communal tensions in several parts of the country.<\/p>\n
