Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed deep shock and grief over the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Galwanpora area of Budgam district, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir describing the incident as \u201cheartbreaking and deeply disturbing\u201d.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, the Mirwaiz called for a transparent, thorough, and time-bound investigation. He said he was anguished over the death of the minor, who had gone missing while on her way to a Darsgah. He stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident had shaken the conscience of society and raised serious questions about the safety of children.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe tragedy has raised serious concerns about the safety of children and underscored the growing vulnerability of children and women in society,\u201d Mirwaiz said.<\/p>\n
Questioning the state of society, he said it was deeply troubling that children could no longer feel safe even while travelling to seek education and religious guidance. He added that such incidents spread fear, grief, and anxiety among people and called for serious introspection at every level.<\/p>\n
Mirwaiz demanded that those responsible for the \u201cheinous act\u201d be identified, brought to justice, and awarded the strictest punishment under the law.<\/p>\n
