Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has strongly condemned the New Delhi-imposed administration under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for placing senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and preventing him from offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters after offering Eid prayers, Mehbooba Mufti termed the continued restrictions on Mirwaiz a violation of religious rights and said the move had caused deep anguish among Kashmiri Muslims.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday he was stopped from going to Budgam. Today he was stopped from going to Jamia Masjid where he wanted to pray. This has become a custom. Even now, he has been kept under house arrest,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mehbooba Mufti also expressed concern over the plight of thousands of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails across IIOJK and India.<\/p>\n
\u201cThousands of our people are under trial in jails without any legal action. They are separated from their families, while many of their parents have passed away during their detention,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Referring to the recent abduction, rape and murder of a minor girl in Budgam, the PDP president said the tragedy had cast a shadow of grief over Eid celebrations in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
