Jammu: A massive cordon and search operation launched by Indian forces\u2019 personnel in the forest areas of Rajouri district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir entered its eighth straight day on Saturday.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation, involving personnel of the Indian army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Operations Group (SOG), and so-called Village Defence Guards, has been underway since Saturday in the Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal areas of Manjakote sector.<\/p>\n
Indian authorities have intensified the operation by deploying para commandos in the rugged terrain, while helicopters are carrying out aerial surveillance and sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to trace movement within the thick forest cover.<\/p>\n
The operation, codenamed Operation Sheruwali, has witnessed large-scale deployment, with additional reinforcements and logistical support rushed to the area.<\/p>\n
The prolonged military action has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local residents. All entry and exit routes to the area have been sealed, while surrounding villages remain under strict cordon and are being subjected to repeated door to door searches.<\/p>\n
The entire area remained under strict security watch as the operation continued for the eighth consecutive day, an official said.<\/p>\n
Indian officials claimed the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a pretext frequently cited by Indian forces to justify extensive search operations in the occupied territory.<\/p>\n
