Srinagar: Thousands of undergraduate aspirants in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir fear losing admission opportunities as final dates for submission of online application forms at several institutions were deliberately scheduled from May 27 to 30, coinciding with the peak of Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, students and parents said the timing left many applicants occupied with family and religious commitments, while internet caf\u00e9s and digital access centres in remote areas remained closed during Eid holidays, further hampering online submissions.<\/p>\n

In a representation addressed to authorities, applicants highlighted the \u201curgent need\u201d to extend the deadline. \u201cA large number of deserving students are facing the risk of missing out on their higher education opportunities due to circumstances beyond their control,\u201d the representation stated.<\/p>\n

The appeal urged college administrations to extend the deadline by at least one week to ensure a fair and inclusive admission process.<\/p>\n

Observers said the scheduling reflects a recurring pattern in IIOJK where academic calendars and administrative deadlines are set to clash with Muslim religious festivals, effectively depriving eligible Muslim students of equal opportunity. They argued that such clashes cannot be termed \u201ccoincidence\u201d when they repeatedly disrupt Kashmiris\u2019 participation in education and other public affairs.<\/p>\n
