Jammu: Social and tribal rights activist Choudhary Talib Hussain has disclosed that the ongoing demolition drive in Sidhra is being carried out by the Bharatiya Janata Party, leaving several poor families displaced.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian police arrested the PDP leader while he was leading a peaceful protest march from Jammu to Srinagar in solidarity with victims of the demolition drives at Bandi and Sidhra.<\/p>\n
He demanded implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 in IIOJK.<\/p>\n
PDP strongly condemned the arrest, saying \u201csuppressing political voices cannot weaken the people\u2019s resolve. PDP stands united with its leaders and workers in the fight for justice, democracy, and the rights of the people.\u201d \u201cInstead of delivering justice to affected families, the government is busy suppressing voices seeking justice. Silencing peaceful activists is not the answer. Democracy demands dialogue, not repression,\u201d the party said.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a public interaction before his arrest, Talib Hussain said the demolitions have hit marginalized communities hard and questioned the role of political leaders. He demanded accountability, proper rehabilitation and a transparent explanation for the drive, urging authorities to ensure no family is left without support.<\/p>\n
