Srinagar: People from different villages staged a massive protest demonstration in Awantipora against the illegal decision of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir administration to acquire land in several villages of Pulwama district.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters raised slogans against the occupying authorities and demanded that the decision to acquire their lands be withdrawn immediately.<\/p>\n
The protesters were raising slogans like \u201cGive back our lands\u201d, \u201cWe want justice\u201d. The protesters said people are being displaced under a conspiracy in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
They said the Agriculture Department has already acquired hundreds of kanals of land in Awantipora for farming. After this, hundreds of kanals of land were also acquired for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Islamic University. Now, land that has been under their control for years is being snatched away to make the people dependent on food grains, which is very sad.<\/p>\n
The protesters said political figures have grabbed hundreds of kanals of land in Pulwama district as well as other areas. Instead of taking action against them, atrocities are being committed on the people.<\/p>\n
