New Delhi: A headmistress in Kerala has denied admission to about 30 Muslim students, exposing how Muslims are facing discrimination in even India’s educational institutions.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the headmistress of Dr CT Eapen Memorial RHS School in Sasthamcotta, Kollam, told parents \u201cMuslims are not allowed in this school\u2026 children who come dressed in white clothing will not be admitted.\u201d<\/p>\n

Around 30 students, including some from a dars in Chakkuvalli, were denied admission despite requests from teachers. Complainants said no action was taken even after complaints to school management and the District Educational Officer.<\/p>\n

The school currently has only 63 students from Classes 5 to 10, with just one Muslim student enrolled in high school. PTA vice-president said, \u201cThe issue was that the children who came were Muslims\u2026 even the clothes they wore were a problem.\u201d Teachers said the headmistress had behaved similarly on previous occasions.<\/p>\n

Kerala Education Minister N Shamsudheen said, \u201cNo one has the right to deny a child access to education.\u201d<\/p>\n
