Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of the Pine Avenue area in Rawalpora, Srinagar, have staged a protest against the construction and operation of a hotel in their residential locality, questioning how a building approved for residential use is being run as a commercial establishment.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesters demanded immediate intervention by the authorities and called for the hotel to be sealed pending a transparent investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n
Local residents said the hotel is situated in a residential neighborhood and alleged that parties involving the consumption of alcohol are frequently held on the premises, causing serious concern among families living in the area. They maintained that the presence of intoxicated individuals has adversely affected the peaceful atmosphere of the locality and disturbed the social and family environment.<\/p>\n
The residents said the operation of such a commercial facility in a residential zone has created inconvenience and insecurity for the local population. They urged the authorities to take cognizance of their concerns and ensure that land-use regulations are strictly enforced.<\/p>\n
The protesters further said that despite repeated complaints, no effective action has been taken against the hotel.
