\"\"Srinagar: <\/span>In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and the territory\u2019s chief cleric, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has urged the Kashmiri people to uphold the values of unity, brotherhood, tolerance and mutual respect during the holy month of Muharram, expected to commence around June 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a message ahead of Muharram, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said the sacred month carries a timeless message of sacrifice, patience, justice and compassion, embodied in the life and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at Karbala.<\/p>\n

He said Muharram serves as a powerful reminder of the need to stand firmly for truth, justice and moral values in the face of oppression.<\/p>\n

Mirwaiz urged people to strengthen social cohesion and preserve the spirit of communal harmony, and peaceful coexistence that have long been the hallmark of Kashmiri society.<\/p>\n

He also appealed to religious scholars, community leaders, organizers and the general public to ensure that Muharram observances are conducted in a peaceful, disciplined and dignified manner, fostering an atmosphere of respect and brotherhood.<\/p>\n
