ISLAMABAD : Ghulam Muhammad Safi has been elected Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter for a second consecutive term.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Parvaiz Ahmed Shah was elected as General Secretary, while Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani was elected Information Secretary. Representatives of all constituent parties of the APHC participated in the elections held today at the APHC-AJK office in Islamabad. The polls marked the third electoral exercise since the unification of all Hurriyat groups under a unified APHC platform in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).<\/p>\n
The newly elected APHC-AJK leadership paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir and saluted the steadfastness of Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in Indian jails and detention centers. They reaffirmed the Kashmiris\u2019 unwavering resolve to carry their struggle for freedom from illegal Indian occupation until the realization of their right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the APHC-AJK chapter, in a statement, reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and that the United Nations Security Council, through its relevant resolutions, has acknowledged the Kashmiri people\u2019s inalienable right to self-determination. It emphasized that the fundamental demand of the Kashmiri people is the opportunity to determine their political future through a free, fair and impartial process conducted in accordance with UN resolutions.<\/p>\n
The statement described the APHC as the genuine representative forum of the Kashmiri people and reaffirmed its commitment to constructive and meaningful engagement with all relevant stakeholders to further strengthen the voice of the oppressed people living under Indian occupation.<\/p>\n
It said the elections reflected organizational continuity, institutional stability and adherence to democratic traditions, while also demonstrating that the Kashmiris\u2019 just and legitimate struggle continues with resilience and determination despite persistent repression, challenges and obstacles.<\/p>\n
The APHC-AJK urged the United Nations and international human rights organizations to play an effective role in safeguarding the fundamental human, political and democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and in facilitating a just, lasting and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, paving the way for peace, stability and justice in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
