New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has expressed concern over the growing normalization of discrimination against Muslims in India, calling it a \u201cmoral failure\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Tharoor shared an opinion article on NDTV citing an incident where BJP\u2019s Jammu and Kashmir media co-in-charge Sajjad Yusuf Shah allegedly faced denial of hotel accommodation in Maharashtra due to his Muslim and Kashmiri identity.<\/p>\n

Tharoor said the episode exposes a \u201cdeeper moral decay\u201d in society. \u201cA great civilization is not measured only by GDP growth or highways. Its real greatness lies in how it treats its weakest people and how safely minorities can sleep at night,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

The Congress MP warned that when discrimination becomes institutionalized, it targets identity rather than political affiliation.
