Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called for meaningful dialogue between India and Pakistan, saying that if the United States and Iran can engage in talks despite tensions, then India and Pakistan should also sit together to resolve their issues, including the Kashmir dispute.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event at Residency Road in Srinagar, Mirwaiz said, \u201cToday, as we speak about global peace, I am pleased that efforts are underway to revive dialogue between the United States and Iran. We have always supported such efforts. In this spirit, I appealed to the leadership of India to embrace the path of dialogue, because wars do not resolve disputes. It is through dialogue that issues are addressed and resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further stated that the subcontinent holds immense potential with tremendous economic opportunities and human resources. \u201cThe entire region can move forward and prosper if only the leadership demonstrates political vision and works towards improving mutual relations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mirwaiz stressed that friendship between India and Pakistan offers the best path toward resolving longstanding issues, including the Kashmir conflict. He expressed hope that the leadership of India, Pakistan, and Kashmir would support such efforts to strengthen peace.<\/p>\n

The Mirwaiz also emphasised the need for unity among Kashmiri Muslims. He said all members of the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema are united on strengthening sectarian harmony and that any misunderstandings should be resolved through goodwill and dialogue, keeping the wider interest of Muslim unity in mind.
