Srinagar: The High Court of Indian illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir has quashed the detention orders of five persons booked under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and directed their immediate release from custody.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, allowing their separate habeas corpus petitions, a bench of Justice Rahul Bharti set aside the detention orders issued by various District Magistrates.<\/p>\n

In the case of Mudasir Ahmad Mir, the court quashed the detention order after the authorities failed to produce the complete detention record, including the latest extension order.<\/p>\n

The court strongly criticised the Home Department for treating the submission of detention records as a mere formality.<\/p>\n

In another case, the detention of Nazir Ahmad Dar was quashed after the court observed that the District Magistrate took nearly two months to issue the order after receiving the dossier from police. The court noted that preventive detention requires prompt action and the unexplained delay rendered the detention legally flawed.<\/p>\n
