Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front Party has strongly condemned the confiscation of property belonging to prominent Kashmiri leader, businessman and steadfast supporter of the Kashmir freedom movement, Dr Mubeen Ahmad Shah, by Indian authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP spokesperson Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement, said Dr Mubeen Ahmad Shah has consistently supported the just cause of the Kashmiri people through political, diplomatic and peaceful means. Despite being forced to live in exile, he continues to advocate for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
The DFP spokesman said the continued targeting of Dr Shah\u2019s property and assets reflects a policy of political vengeance and collective punishment, which is a blatant violation of international human rights standards and the rule of law.<\/p>\n
Advocate Arshad Iqbal said Indian authorities have adopted a systematic policy of confiscating properties of pro-freedom leaders, political activists and dissenting voices in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
Arbitrary arrests, intimidation, harassment, raids and economic coercion have become routine instruments to suppress the legitimate political aspirations of Kashmiris, he added. He warned that confiscation of properties, political victimization and intimidation will neither weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people nor suppress the Kashmir dispute. History has shown that force and coercion cannot replace justice, dialogue and respect for fundamental human rights, he said.<\/p>\n
The DFP called upon the international community, the United Nations, international human rights organizations and all democratic governments to take urgent notice of the ongoing political persecution, unlawful confiscation of properties and widespread human rights violations in Kashmir.<\/p>\n
The party urged the international community to ensure protection of the rights of Dr Mubeen Ahmad Shah and all other affected Kashmiris, and to play an effective role in facilitating a peaceful and just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of its people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
