Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Democratic Freedom Party has strongly condemned the infamous Indian National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) decision to file a chargesheet in a fabricated 1996 case against the illegally detained party Chairman Shabbir Ahmad Shah and several other Hurriyat leaders.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Srinagar, DFP General Secretary Dr. Ghulam Rasool said the revival of nearly three-decade-old cases further reinforces the perception that the Indian authorities are pursuing a policy of political vendetta against the Kashmiri leadership for holding dissenting political views.<\/p>\n

He said such measures can neither weaken the resolve of the Hurriyat leadership nor undermine the political and historical dimensions of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.<\/p>\n

He noted that Shabbir Ahmad Shah has remained incarcerated for several years and continues to face prosecutions in multiple fabricated cases. He further said that the repeated registration or revival of cases after bail or progress in earlier proceedings raises serious concerns regarding due process, the right to a fair trial, and the protection of fundamental human rights.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ghulam Rasool also expressed regret that the chargesheet includes the names of martyred veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani and martyred Hurriyat leader Khawja Abdul Gani Lone, although the proceedings against them have abated following their passing. He reiterated that a durable and peaceful resolution of the longstanding Jammu and Kashmir dispute is possible only through meaningful and inclusive political dialogue.<\/p>\n

The DFP leader urged international human rights organizations to take serious notice of the plight of Shabbir Ahmad Shah and other Kashmiri political prisoners and press India to ensure their release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
