Jammu : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in a startling case of lack of professionalism on the part of police, a family in Jammu was on its way to cremate a body it believed belonged to its 27-year-old missing relative when the young man himself called to inform them that he was alive.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred after Vishal, who had been missing for the past three days, was presumed dead when his family identified an unidentified body at the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.<\/p>\n

The identification was reportedly made on the basis of similarities in facial features and body build. Following the identification, police completed the necessary legal formalities and hospital authorities handed over the body to the relatives for last rites. However, while the ambulance carrying the body was on its way to the cremation ground, the family received a phone call from Vishal, who told them that he was alive and safe in Jammu.<\/p>\n

Shocked by the revelation, the family immediately asked the ambulance to turn back and return to the Government Medical College.<\/p>\n

The unidentified body was subsequently placed back in the hospital mortuary, while police have restarted the process of establishing the deceased\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n

Officials said further investigation is underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances that led to the mistaken identification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
