Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell organized a roundtable conference in Islamabad to commemorate Accession to Pakistan Day, reaffirming the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and their commitment to Pakistan.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conference was attended by former AJK President Sardar Masood Ahmad Khan as chief guest and was presided over by former APHC Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar. It was attended by Hurriyat leaders, political and social figures, lawyers, journalists, intellectuals and activists.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar said the July 19, 1947 Accession to Pakistan Resolution reflected the historical, ideological, religious, cultural and geographical ties between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Sardar Masood Ahmad Khan said the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains on the UN Security Council agenda and can only be resolved by granting Kashmiris their UN-promised right to self-determination.<\/p>\n

The speakers condemned Indian human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), including extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, raids, property seizures and actions by the NIA and SIA. They also expressed concern over India’s attempts to alter the territory’s demographic composition and urged the United Nations, the OIC and the international community to ensure implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.<\/p>\n

Among those who addressed the conference were Jamshed Hussain, Justice (Retd) Mushtaq Ahmad Janjua Advocate, Bilal Shakeel Advocate, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Shamim Shawl, and Raja Afsar Khan, Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell. The proceedings were conducted by Imtiaz Wani, Information Secretary of APHC-AJK.<\/p>\n

Special prayers were offered for the departed souls, including the fathers of Altaf Hussain Wani and Maqsood Muntazir, the sister of Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, the father of senior journalist Khalid Shabbir, and Hurriyat activists Kausar Javed and Abdul Majeed Bhai. The participants also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement and reaffirmed their resolve to continue the struggle until the realization of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
