Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has criticized some Bollywood filmmakers for portraying a distorted picture of Kashmir to appease the BJP-led Indian government.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Srinagar after launching the logo for the first International Film Festival of IIOJK at the Royal Springs Golf Course.<\/p>\n
He said certain filmmakers were promoting a misleading narrative on Kashmir instead of portraying the ground realities.<\/p>\n
“Some people, instead of presenting reality, twist facts so that the Central Government is happy with them,” he said, adding that films shot in Kashmir often focus only on violence, gunfire, explosions and conflict.<\/p>\n
Omar Abdullah said his government wanted to encourage films that reflected the changing realities of the territory rather than focusing solely on violence.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, Omar Abdullah said the protesters had every right to raise their demands and urged the BJP-led Indian government to engage in dialogue with them.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think these youngsters are ready to step back. It is for the Government of India to decide whether it wants this protest to continue or not. I feel the BJP government should talk to these youngsters,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
