Islamabad: Senior APHC-AJK leader Advocate Syed Yousaf Naseem has said that August 5 is one of the darkest days in the history of Kashmir, as it was on this day in 2019 that the BJP-led Indian government revoked the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in blatant violation of international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Syed Yousaf Naseem said that New Delhi\u2019s unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, were aimed at undermining the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir and had adversely affected the territory\u2019s historical identity, political character, and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
He said India has no legal or moral authority to altar the status of a disputed territory through force or deprive Kashmiris of their internationally recognized right to self-determination. He recalled that the UN resolution of January 5, 1949 recognized the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to determine their political future through a free and impartial plebiscite.<\/p>\n
The APHC-AJK leader said Kashmiris across the world observe August 5 as Black Day every year to draw the attention of the international community to India\u2019s illegal actions and to reiterate their rejection of New Delhi\u2019s unilateral measures in IIOJK.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed that the Kashmiri people remain committed to their struggle to free their motherland from Indian occupation and would continue their peaceful movement until the realization of their UN-recognized right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
Syed Yousaf Naseem called upon the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the international community and global human rights organizations to take serious notice of the deteriorating human rights situation in IIOJK and play their role to help create conditions in which the Kashmiri people can exercise their right to decide their political future in accordance with the UN resolutions and their aspirations.<\/p>\n
He also expressed gratitude to the Government and the people of Pakistan for their continued political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmir cause and for raising the Kashmir dispute at international forums.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
