Srinagar : Indian authorities have intensified restrictions, surveillance and checking across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir ahead of India\u2019s Independence Day on August 15, with extensive deployments, checkpoints, frisking, drone monitoring and cordon-and-search operations (CASOs) reported in different parts of the territory.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Srinagar\u2019s Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for the India\u2019s Independence Day function, has been placed under a multi-layered security grid, with Indian forces deployed around the stadium and adjoining areas. Access routes leading to the venue have been subjected to heightened checking, while drones and CCTV cameras are being used for continuous surveillance.<\/p>\n
A senior police officer said random checking and frisking of vehicles and pedestrians were being conducted around the clock, with special focus on Bakshi Stadium and other sensitive locations.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Indian police, Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies have launched CASOs in different areas of Srinagar. Additional contingents have been deployed, while night patrolling and surveillance at entry and exit points of the city have also been intensified.<\/p>\n
According to officials, passengers are also being subjected to increased frisking and checking at bus stands, taxi stands and other public places.<\/p>\n
The latest measures have further tightened the besieging environment in Srinagar, where residents are routinely subjected to checkpoints, searches and surveillance. The authorities have indicated that the restrictions and security arrangements will be further intensified as August 15 approaches.<\/p>\n
The sweeping measures come amid continued militarisation of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with Indian forces maintaining a heavy presence across the territory in the name of security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
