Islamabad : Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has said that 15th August will be treated as a Black Day by the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as long as the people of the territory are treated as conquered people and their right to self-determination and freedom is denied to them.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad questioned the moral, legal and political basis of India’s position in IIOJK, insisting that the Indian then Prime Minister had declared his firm belief in a plebiscite as the only credible method to ascertain the wishes of the people. He said the Indian leadership betrayed not only the Kashmiris but also violated the principles and resolutions made with regard to the plebiscite, adopted by the United Nations Security Council.<\/p>\n
He said the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party government of Modi went steps further, ignominiously desecrating the fundamental rights of the people when, in 2019, it dismembered the occupied territory and declared it to be a Union Territory. He added that India again, with its iron military fist, deprived the local inhabitants of their service and property rights and their right to live as citizens without any fear of illegal imprisonment and detention. Thereby, thousands of youth and women continue to languish in jails outside the territory.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said Modi has come with a heavy hand on Internet and mobile services in IIOJK under its military control. There is no freedom for the press, electronic or printed media, and courts have no powers to deliver justice even in name, he said adding there seems to be a lull before the storm, and the government has manipulated every political and economic activity in its own favour in an effort to fraudulently fool the outside world.<\/p>\n
He said India has no moral and political clout in the occupied territory to release political leaders from jails. The properties of the bona fide citizens have been attached, and lakhs of Indians have been issued Kashmiri domicile certificates by the establishment, he remarked.<\/p>\n
Farooq Rehmani said under such dark circumstances, the Kashmiris have no option except to condemn India’s Independence Day as a Black Day.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged the United Nations to implement the relevant resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir for a just and durable solution to the 79-year-old political imbroglio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
