Islamabad : Pakistan has reaffirmed its solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), saying they continue to live under systemic state repression, including draconian laws, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention, as the world observed the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued on the day, Pakistan said the people of IIOJK continued to face a state-run campaign of repression despite decades of coercion and blatant violations of their fundamental human rights.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite decades of coercion and continuing, blatant violation of their fundamental human rights, the people of IIOJK remain resolute in their demand for a UN-mandated right to self-determination,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
Pakistan said it also paid tribute to and reaffirmed its \u201cresolute solidarity\u201d with its Kashmiri brethren in IIOJK, adding that the situation in the territory encompassed draconian laws, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention through a state-run campaign that \u201cmeets every definition of terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement said the people of Palestine also remained in Pakistan\u2019s thoughts, noting that despite ceasefire and diplomatic efforts that opened space for some humanitarian relief, Palestinians, particularly children, women and the elderly, continued to suffer serious human rights violations and denial of their fundamental right to self-determination.<\/p>\n
Pakistan said the global lessons of the past remained relevant today, stressing that foreign occupation, unresolved conflicts and denial of the right to self-determination were exploited by extremists and terrorists and therefore required urgent redressal.<\/p>\n
Pakistan described the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism as an occasion not only for commemoration but also for reflection on the lives lost to terrorism and the suffering endured by victims\u2019 families. \u201cIt is also a moment to reflect and renew our unflinching resolve for continued vigilance and commitment in combating this global menace.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement said Pakistan continued to make unprecedented sacrifices in blood and treasure in fighting terrorism, not only for its own people but also for the region and beyond. \u201cMore than 90,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives and the country has incurred economic losses surpassing US$150 billion in the ongoing fight against terrorism,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
It said terrorism had become increasingly multifaceted, with terrorists employing emerging technologies and cyberspace to enhance their reach and carry out increasingly sophisticated and lethal attacks. Pakistan, it added, was also a victim of disinformation and misinformation campaigns, hydro-terrorism and extraterritorial assassination campaigns.<\/p>\n
The statement said 2025 had been among the deadliest years Pakistan had faced in over a decade, attributing the rising toll to violence planned, financed and directed from sanctuaries across the border, often with the support of hostile elements from neighbouring countries, targeting worshippers, children, women and security personnel without distinction.<\/p>\n
Despite these challenges, Pakistan reiterated its \u201cunflinching resolve\u201d and \u201cunwavering commitment\u201d to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.<\/p>\n
As it paid tribute to victims of terrorism, Pakistan called upon the international community to support victims and survivors of terrorism across the globe without discrimination and to enhance international cooperation and dialogue objectively, impartially, consistently and equitably, without double standards, to ensure a more peaceful world for future generations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
