New Delhi : India is planning to procure the US-made Javelin anti-tank guided missile systems to bolster the Indian Army\u2019s combat prowess, in another move reflecting New Delhi\u2019s growing focus on military expansion and its jingoistic security mindset.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said in a post on X, \u201cBIG news! India plans to buy the battle-tested Javelin anti-tank system.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great step forward in the US-India defence relationship and opens the door to co-production possibilities. The engagement between our two nations is at record-high levels!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Gor said the agreement reflects a bilateral defence partnership that is growing \u201cdeeper, more capable, and more consequential.\u201d<\/p>\n
The United States welcomed the Indian Army\u2019s signing of a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) for the purchase of the Javelin anti-tank guided missile system through the US Foreign Military Sales process, according to an American readout.<\/p>\n
It said the \u201cmilestone\u201d reflects the enduring partnership between the US and Indian armed forces and opens the door for future collaboration between the US and Indian defence industries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe landmark signature further strengthens the US-India Major Defence Partnership by demonstrating the depth of ongoing US support to the Indian Army,\u201d the readout said.<\/p>\n
The move comes amid India\u2019s continued expansion of its military capabilities, driven by an increasingly assertive and jingoistic strategic outlook.
