Islamabad: Pakistan has once again reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, the final resolution of which must be in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.<\/p>\n

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad said the fate of Jammu and Kashmir is to be decided through a UN-supervised plebiscite. He emphasized that India should reverse the illegal and unilateral actions taken on August 5, 2019, when the Modi government revoked the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and divided the territory into two Union Territories. He further said the Indian actions of August 5, 2019, constitutes a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Office Spokesperson demanded of India to end its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and implement the UN Security Council resolutions. He also demanded that India engage in self-accountability regarding its illegal and unilateral decisions.<\/p>\n

He stated that Pakistan summoned the Indian Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires following the provocative and aggressive advance of an Indian naval vessel into Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone on September 15. He remarked that the incident violated bilateral and international norms, and that the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi would issue a demarche to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.<\/p>\n

Sajjad Haider also urged India to desist from irresponsible actions that further destabilize South Asia. He dismissed the Indian media’s propaganda regarding Sikh pilgrims as contrary to the facts. He noted that the visas issued by the Indian High Commission were not in accordance with the 1974 Pakistan-India bilateral protocol.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said Pakistan is ready to welcome Sikh pilgrims via the Kartarpur Corridor; it is India, not Pakistan, that has kept the Kartarpur Corridor closed.<\/p>\n

He clarified that this year, Pakistan issued over 2,800 visas to Indian pilgrims for Baisakhi in April alone, more than 700 for the martyrdom anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev, and 438 for the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in June; the country is also prepared to welcome Sikh pilgrims for the upcoming Baisakhi festival.<\/p>\n

The Foreign Office spokesperson rejected India’s claims regarding the 1963 Pakistan-China Boundary Agreement, clarifying it is a valid and effective agreement between the two nations and that the Indian assertion challenging the Joint Boundary Commission is baseless.<\/p>\n
