\"\"Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, retired police personnel in Jammu have raised a number of welfare and pension-related concerns, including implementation of a High Court order on pending arrears, removal of discrepancies in salary and pension benefits and provision of free medicines at government and police hospitals.<\/p>\n

The issues were discussed at a monthly meeting of police veterans from Jammu district held in Jammu under the chairmanship of Karanjit Singh, president of the Ex-Policemen League, Jammu. The retired personnel demanded implementation of the High Court order regarding payment of pending arrears to pensioners and removal of disparities in salary and pension benefits among police officers of the same rank. They also called for free medicines for all retired police personnel at government and police hospitals, besides a special recruitment drive for the wards of retired cops.<\/p>\n

The meeting further demanded that benefits under central health schemes be extended to all retired police personnel and that regular meetings of retired cops be held at zonal and district police headquarters to address their grievances. The participants also requested the nodal officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) DAR, to coordinate with retired police personnel and facilitate resolution of their issues.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Abdul Wahab, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police from Tral in Kashmir, who had passed away. A large number of police veterans, including former Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Deputy Superintendents of Police and other retired personnel, attended the meeting.<\/p>\n

Analysts say the demands raised at the meeting reflect a wider sense of grievance among retired police personnel over what they perceive as administrative apathy, discrimination in the provision of salary and pension benefits, delays in payment of legitimate dues and inadequate access to healthcare. Their call for implementation of court orders, equal treatment of personnel of the same rank, regular institutional engagement and welfare measures suggests that many of their concerns remain unresolved despite years of service, highlighting complaints of neglect towards retired members of the police force.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
