Police deployed thousands of forces\u2019 personnel, erected barricades, intensified vehicle checks and restricted public movement across the capital ahead of the planned 10am demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>A police source said around 200 protesters had been detained in the area. Separately, reports said at least 600 people had been detained under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act as security measures were tightened. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were among those detained at Indira Gandhi International Airport while travelling to Delhi for the protest. Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was also detained outside the capital, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Roads leading to the protest site were blocked with multiple layers of metal barricades as authorities tightened security across Delhi. Questioning the extensive security arrangements, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of preventing young people from joining the protest. He asked why railways, metro services, roads and internet connectivity had to be restricted if the government was not afraid of public dissent.<\/p>\n<p>The operation caused widespread inconvenience to residents and commuters. Police personnel stopped vehicles at entry points, checked buses and intensified surveillance around key intersections. Barricades and concrete blocks were placed along major roads, while anti-riot vehicles equipped with tear gas guns were positioned at strategic locations.<\/p>\n<p>Restrictions affected areas around Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place, Mandi House, Patel Chowk, Sansad Marg and other parts of central Delhi. Authorities also reported disruptions to metro services, train operations and mobile internet connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>Delhi Police denied permission for the proposed demonstration, citing law-and-order concerns, possible inconvenience to residents and alleged previous violations of protest conditions. Officials said the party&#8217;s intimation did not qualify as a properly filed application and pointed to guidelines requiring applications for demonstrations at Jantar Mantar to be submitted at least 10 days in advance.<\/p>\n<p>The protest follows reports that officials within the Election Commission had questioned aspects of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, including the removal of approximately 130 million voter entries during the revision process. Critics argue that the exercise risks disenfranchising eligible voters and could benefit Modi&#8217;s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).<\/p>\n<p>Opposition parties have repeatedly accused the government and election authorities of manipulating electoral processes, allegations that the BJP and the Election Commission have denied.
