Jammu: Protests over civic, economic and linguistic issues were held in various parts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
Traders, workers, farmers and Sikh community members pressed authorities for urgent action. The demonstrations highlighted concerns over livelihoods, public infrastructure and cultural recognition.<\/p>\n
Traders oppose anti-business move<\/strong><\/p>\n In Jammu, Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir president Sunil Dimple led a protest against the proposed Amphalla-Janipur flyover. Traders, shopkeepers and residents joined the rally, demanding an immediate halt to construction.<\/p>\n Dimple said the project threatened businesses and residential properties along the route. He demanded a ring road, improved flyover planning and metro connectivity instead. The proposed metro route would extend from Amphalla Manda to Akhnoor. He alleged that pillars would occupy substantial space on the existing road. He warned that construction could damage shops, showrooms and houses. He also predicted prolonged disruption to local businesses.<\/p>\n Dimple claimed around 5,000 commercial establishments and five lakh family members could be affected. He said soil testing and pillar marking had reportedly begun. He warned of intensified agitation if authorities ignored their concerns.<\/p>\n Anganwadi workers demand higher honorarium<\/strong><\/p>\n In Rajouri, Anganwadi workers and helpers protested for increased monthly remuneration. They rallied from Children’s Park towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office.<\/p>\n Led by president Satwinder Kumari, protesters said their honorarium remained inadequate. They currently receive Rs 5,000 monthly, which they described as insufficient. They highlighted their role in delivering services for women and children. The workers warned they might stop working at the existing honorarium.<\/p>\n Farmers seek compensation<\/strong><\/p>\n In Kathua district, farmers protested after heavy rain and storms damaged standing Basmati. Farmers from Gopala Chak and surrounding border villages reported extensive losses.<\/p>\n Farmer Ashok Kumar said waterlogging had severely damaged their crops. He criticised the absence of assessment visits by government officials. Farmers also expressed concern over outstanding loans and insurance payments. He warned farmers might stage a roadside sit-in without timely relief.<\/p>\n Sikh agitation continues in Jammu<\/strong><\/p>\n In Jammu, the All Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Sangat’s indefinite dharna continued on Tuesday. Rallies from Miran Sahib, Maralia and Camp Gole Gujral headed towards the main protest site.<\/p>\n Several Sikh, religious and community organisations backed official-language status for Punjabi.
