New Delhi: India’s repeated recruitment frauds, forged credentials, bribery scandals and defence procurement controversies expose serious institutional vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n
According to Kashmir Media Service, these scandals undermine New Delhi’s claims of military professionalism, transparency and meritocracy.<\/p>\n
400 BSF men dismissed<\/p>\n
Around 400 Border Security Force (BSF) tradesmen were dismissed. They included cooks, water carriers and waiters. Their National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level-1 certificates were found forged or invalid. These personnel were recruited during 2023-24 through Rozgar Mela. They had served for one to two years before dismissal.<\/p>\n
Some reportedly performed duties during Operation Sindoor in May 2025. Constable Gopinath Ghosh from R.S. Pura, Jammu, was among them. The dismissed personnel claimed they were victims of cyber fraud. They cited YouTube-based institutes.<\/p>\n
An RTI response reportedly indicated no Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) certificates were generated between 2015 and 2023.A related arrest was reported in Kodarma, Jharkhand. Affected personnel staged protests at CGO Complex, New Delhi. They demanded justice and appealed to BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, Inspector General Makrand Deoskar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their status remained unresolved as of October 2026. This raises questions about verification procedures and administrative responsibility.<\/p>\n
Widespread recruitment fraud exposed<\/p>\n
The Indian Army warned aspirants during 2025-26 about fraud tactics. These include fake rallies, counterfeit fitness test slips, impersonators and promises of guaranteed selection.<\/p>\n
In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, five suspects were arrested in September 2026. They were Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vishal Yadav, Rajveer alias Kailash, Dharmendra Singh and Noor Ahmad. They allegedly facilitated Agniveer selection. Forged documents were recovered.In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, 13 over-age candidates from Uttar Pradesh were caught in October 2026. They allegedly used forged marksheets and Aadhaar documents.<\/p>\n
In West Bengal, Tarun Das of Murshidabad was arrested in October 2026. He allegedly impersonated a Lieutenant Colonel of Para Special Forces and Military Intelligence. Uniform, forged IDs and walkie-talkies were seized. Uttarakhand witnessed multiple cases between 2024 and 2026.<\/p>\n
Impostors posed as Army officers<\/p>\n
At least five cases were reported. In Bengaluru, a racket reportedly cheated an ex-serviceman and 10 aspirants of Rs 55.7 lakh through fake Army call orders. A separate CBI case from 2020-22 involved Sepoy Bablu Chauhan, craftsman Akash and others. It was an alleged Rs 1.43 crore racket promising jobs in Army, Territorial Army, Assam Rifles and Food Corporation of India.<\/p>\n
Senior Officers Face Graft Charges<\/p>\n
More troubling are allegations within Army’s own ranks. A Service Selection Centre, Kapurthala, investigation started in 2021. Action was taken in 2026 against a Major General and about 20 officers attached for court-martial. The case involved alleged bribes from Rs 50,000 to Rs 10 lakh. Bribes were to clear medically rejected candidates through Review Medical Boards.<\/p>\n
A CBI FIR named 23 individuals. Searches were conducted at 30 locations.In another 2026 case, an Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Subedar faced General Court Martial. He allegedly cheated civilians of about Rs 51.44 lakh.<\/p>\n
In 2025, an Army Medical Corps Subedar received seven years rigorous imprisonment and dismissal in a disproportionate-assets case.In 2026, a Major General of the Army Medical Corps was found guilty.<\/p>\n
The case involved about Rs 11 crore in medical-stores irregularities between 2018 and 2020.Defence procurement also came under scrutiny. CBI arrested Anil Kumar, executive director at Munitions India Limited, and Ashish Kansal, CEO of SMPP Limited, in October 2026. The case involved alleged Rs 500 crore ammunition-contract bribery and sensitive-information leak.<\/p>\n
Investigators reportedly seized about Rs 2.23 crore in cash. This intensified concerns about integrity of defence contracting and protection of classified information.<\/p>\n
Collectively, these cases expose a disturbing contradiction. India’s grandiose military-power narratives clash with recruitment verification failures, internal indiscipline and procurement oversight failures.<\/p>\n
New Delhi must explain how fraudulent networks repeatedly exploit aspiring soldiers. It must explain how serving personnel face serious corruption allegations. It must explain how sensitive ammunition contracts face bribery probes.<\/p>\n
The dismissal of potentially deceived BSF recruits alongside allegations involving senior officers raises questions about selective accountability and institutional safeguards. India cannot credibly project itself as a model of military professionalism while recruitment fraud, alleged bribery, forged credentials and procurement scandals continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
