Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police, today, arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and shifted him to Central Jail, Srinagar.

Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested during a raid by police at his Maisuma residence in Srinagar this morning.

The JKLF Chief, yesterday, visited the residences of Sabzar Ahmed Butt and Faizan Faizan Ahmed Butt in Tral area of Pulwama district to express solidarity with the victim families.

Complete shutdown observed in IOK today

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people defying curfew and other restrictions participated in the funeral prayers of top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Butt in Tral area of Pulwama district, today.

People from different areas of the territory made their way into Tral to participate in the last rites of Sabzar Ahmad Butt who along with his associate Faizan Ahmed was killed by Indian troops at Saimoh in Tral area of the district, yesterday. Despite restrictions and heavy deployment of Indian forces, people had gathered in such a huge number that the funeral of Sabzar was held at least seven times. He was buried amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans at his ancestral Ratsuna village in Tral. Funeral in absentia was also held in all major and small towns in the territory. Many mourners were injured in clashes with police after such funerals in Srinagar and Kupwara. »

Authorities impose curfew, detain Hurriyet leaders

Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown, marked by curfew and other restrictions, is being observed in the Kashmir Valley, today, against the killing of top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Sabzar Ahmed Butt and 11 other youth by Indian troops.

All shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road. A two-day strike is being observed across the Valley from today on the call of joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik against the killings and use of brute force on civilians by troops. The leaders also called for a march to Tral on Tuesday to pay tributes to Sabzar Ahmad Butt and other youth, martyred by troops in Pulwama and Baramulla areas, yesterday. »

APHC General Secretary and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed grief over the martyrdom of Hizb commander, Sabzar Ahmad and his companions. Paying glowing tributes to them, he said, “Martyrs are always in our hearts.”

Shabbir Shah termed Shaheed Sabzar Ahmad as hero of youth, adding that his contribution and sacrifices for the Kashmir freedom movement in such a short span of life was exemplary. »

Sabzar’s martyrdom triggers massive anti-India demos

Srinagar, May 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Sabzar Ahmed Butt, a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen who had succeeded Burhan Muzaffar Wani after his martyrdom on 8th July, last year, was among the twelve Kashmiris martyred by Indian troops since yesterday.

Indian army claimed that Sabzar Ahmed along with his two associates was killed during an encounter with the troops at Saimoh in Tral area of Pulwama district. However, independent sources said that Sabzar Ahmed and his companions were first arrested by Indian forces and later killed in custody. Among the other martyrs eight youth were killed by Indian troops during violent military operations in Rampur and Uri areas of Baramulla while one civilian was shot dead by the troops during protests in Saimoh. The troops also destroyed two residential houses in Saimoh.

The killing of Sabzar Ahmed Butt led to massive demonstrations in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Pampore, Pulwama, Kakapora, Tral, Islamabad, Khanabal, Bijbehara, Shopian, Kulgam, Hajin, Sopore, Baramulla, Sumbal, Kupwara, Bandipora and other areas. Raising high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans, the protesters fought pitched battles with the Indian forces’ personnel. »
