Islamabad, June 08 (KMS): Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria has strongly condemned Indian blatant killings and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Nafees Zakaria at the weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday said during last one week, nine Kashmiris, including a 12th class student Aadil Farooq Magray in Shopian, a post graduate student Ajaz Ahmad Mir and Basharat Ahmad Sheikh (19) have been martyred, reportedly, around 40 were arrested and equal number of people were injured.

Geneva, June 08 (KMS): The United Nations has ended its long silence on Kashmir and has increased pressure on India in recent months, diplomats and human rights activists say.
Kashmir Media Service quoting media reports said that India was criticized at the opening of the 35th session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday. This happened for the third consecutive session of the Council, and diplomats and human rights defenders say this is unprecedented, they said, adding: ‘The coming days indicate New Delhi could face more international diplomatic challenges on Kashmir.’ »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has asked the authorities to consider shifting of pro-freedom leaders Masarrat Aalam and Aasiya Andrabi from Kot Balwal jail, Jammu, to a Kashmir jail.

The directive came after Masarrat Aalam’s counsel, Mian Tufail, told the court the lodging of a detainee away from his home goes against the judgment passed in the case of A K Roy. »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district, today, taking the toll to seven since yesterday.

The troops martyred the three youth in vengeance of the killing of an army man in Nowgam area of the district. The troops had killed four youth, earlier, in a military operation in the Machil area of the same district. »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and other pro-freedom leaders and organizations have condemned the killing of a youth, Aadil Farooq Magray in Shopian by Indian troops, saying that India has waged a war against innocent and unarmed people of the territory.

The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Indian forces feel free to kill anybody without any accountability.” Holding local authorities and pro-India politicians responsible for prevailing mayhem, it said that they were least bothered about the appalling situation and were hand in glove with killer forces. »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed has said that the people of Kashmir will accept nothing less than plebiscite as guaranteed by the United Nations and the international community.

Engineer Rasheed in a statement issued in Srinagar said till final resolution Kashmiris have to ensure that India doesn’t weaken further all those provisions or the status which the territory is enjoying, as whether it is flag of the territory or Article 370 they are all ample proof that Kashmir is not an integral part of India. »

Geneva, June 08 (KMS): Kashmiri representatives have called upon the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to appoint Special Representative to assess the rights situation in occupied Kashmir.

While taking part in the ongoing 35th session of the UNHRC in Geneva, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi extended support to the initiative of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights of sending a UN team to occupied Kashmir to take stock of the human right situation in the territory. »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the siege and search operations conducted by Indian Army in Uri town of Baramulla district from time to time have made the life of the residents a hell.

Locals told a Srinagar-based English daily Kashmir Reader that since the killing of 20 Indian soldiers in an attack on an army camp in Uri in September 2016, the army had blocked the road that connected several border villages with Uri town, forcing the villagers to walk all the way to the town. »
